Questions about Flypaper

A good friend, Francine Hardaway, forwarded some comments and question about Flypaper to me that were on a Social Networking site that I am not a member of.  So I sent her the following to answer the questions.  She is going to post my answers there but I thought I would post it here as well.

Francine,

Thanks for forwarding this. I have actually seen a few of these comments before. I am not on FriendFeed so did not reply and don’t want to join and learn yet another social network right now.  Perhaps you can post my comments there for me? I will also post this on my own blog and on Flypaper’s blog.

It is a Windows app because the app was targeted for business pro’s who either create or buy Flash programs especially for sales and marketing. Windows is by far the platform of choice for these people. We do have demand for a Mac version especially from graphic artists. The breakthrough with the Flash stuff we create is that mere mortals can now create, edit and customize real Flash programs. Flash programmers, graphic artists, web developers, etc. can also deliver really cool Flash stuff but now deliver in a way their customers can edit themselves instead of having to go back to the programmer to maintain it. Both the customer and developer wins because usually the programmer hates maintenance. They love to create.

Check out Flypaper

A few months ago I told you I had a new job.  Well, I still have it!  :-)   But I have now had the chance to make a real impact there.  We have been really busy and last Thurs May 29th we launched our new version of Flypaper and a brand new marketing site.  Check it out at www.flypaper.com and then tell all your friends if you like what you see.

I am very excited about the new version.  We have made a ton of improvements over the version that has been available since the end of Jan.  Our development team is really very good.  I think the best I have ever worked with.  They knock stuff out in half the time we used to do at ACT! and SalesLogix.  The free version is extremely powerful for building all kinds of stories on the web to persuade, educate and entertain.  Flypaper allows you to build really sexy Flash content that would have required a Flash programmer before.  And you can then easily publish it all over the web.

I am convinced the direction we are heading is going to allow us to build a very big business.

You may ask "what about Jigsaw Health?"  I am still involved in Jigsaw.  Jigsaw is doing really well on its own without me spending much time there.  My son, daughter and team are all running that company helping people with chronic conditions piece their health puzzles together.

Green Our Vaccines with Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey on June 4

(Posted by Patrick Sullivan Jr.)

Sitting in my Inbox from Jenny McCarthy:

A Call To Action and Invitation From Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey

Green Our Vaccines "WE ARE HERE, WE ARE HERE, WE ARE HERE....AND WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY!"

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey invite all organizations (in the autism community AND others) who support the removal of unnecessary toxins in vaccines to join them at the Green Our Vaccines Rally in Washington, DC, on June 4th. This invitation is open to the autism community at large along with health organizations, environmental organizations, and other organizations who support our mission of greening vaccines and reducing the aggressive vaccine schedule for children.

For complete details & information on this rally, please go to: www.tacanow.org
Date:  June 4, 2008
Location: Washington DC
Time:  9am to 12:30pm
If your organization would like to be listed as a supporting organization for this rally, please send an email to: lisa@tacanow.org

I thought it was great news when Jenny McCarthy (yes, that Jenny McCarthy) appeared on Oprah last year talking about autism and how a few mumbo-jumbo biomedical treatments cured her son.  And now she's using her celebrity in such a positive way!

Maybe she can jump on the anti-amalgam bandwagon as well?  Consumers for Dental Choice sure would love the help pointing out that mom's of autistic kids are 4,976 times more likely to have mercury amalgams than mother's of non-autisitics.

Ok, I completely fabricated that last stat, but mercury amalgams (aka. "silver fillings") in mommy's mouth HAS to add to the toxic load of Junior since we know that cord blood levels of mercury are elevated in moms with amalgams compared to moms without.

Is There any Hope for the Dietary Supplement Industry?

(Posted by Patrick Sullivan Jr.)

Marc Ulman is one of the most respected lawyers in the Dietary Supplement business.  Among dozens of other accomplishments and accolades, he is the lead counsel of the Dietary Supplement Education Alliance, which is how I met him.

Yesterday he wrote Attacks on the Industry — How Should We Respond? questioning how to best respond to two recent attacks on the Dietary Supplement Industry.

I posted the following comment to that post (don't know why it's showing up as private comment??):

Good question Marc.  I contest that the long-term answer is what kept my company (Jigsaw Health) from being approved as a member of DSEA -- un-redacted customer product reviews on the same page as the Buy Now button.

Allow me to explain...

Mercury and Vaccines

Here is a good and balanced view of the controversy over mercury, vaccines and autism.  Personally, I agree with his view in general.  Also, his view as a research neuroscientist that even small amounts of toxins can cause the brain to not function well is right on.

Another thing I think important is to spread out the vaccination schedule for the child.  We used to vaccinate on a much slower schedule.  The rise in autism appears to coincide with an acceleration in that schedule beginning around 1991.  Challenging a childs immune system with so many vaccinations when their immune system (and most other systems) are not yet fully developed does not seem wise.  Here is a more user friendly recommended schedule from a doctor Miller.

Pat Has a New Job

I have been busy and not blogging at all.  I have a new gig.  I became the CEO of Flypaper.net about 3 months ago.  We launched the public beta this past Monday.  We showed the product at Demo 08.  We won one of the coveted 10 Demogod awards for best of show out of 77 new cool companies.

Flypaper is likely going to be the biggest thing I have ever done.  Considering that ACT! has sold over 4MM copies and is still going strong after 20 years now, that is quite a statement.  But I believe it is true.

Flypaper bridges the huge gap between Microsoft's Powerpoint and custom Flash programming.  To do anything really cool on the web you have to hire an expensive Flash programmer to do it for you.  What gets delivered to you cannot be edited or changed except by that programmer.  That all changes with Flypaper.

Flypaper is totally free.  Everybody asks, "so how are you going to make money?"  There are LOTS of ways for us to make money when we have millions of users of Flypaper.  It is really an amazing application that you can use for both business applications AND Social networking applications like Myspace, Facebook, Linkedin etc.

Go download it here.  And then tell all your friends about it.

Jigsaw Health continues to grow and do very well.  They just don't need much help from me so it is nice to have something to do again!!
